Gua Musang and Betong 27-30 October 2007

The route taken -
From KL using North-South Expressway and took Simpang Pulai exit. Using trunk road all the way heading Cameron Highland - Gua Musang - Taman Negara - Gua Musang - Jeli - Pengkalan Hulu - Betong - Pengkalan Hulu - Grik - Lenggong - Kuala Kangsar and enter N/S Expressway again going back to KL

Bikers gathered 7am Saturday at Sg Buloh and started journey 7.30am. First stop at Tapah rest station along N/S expressway for breakfast and fuel up. There's a Shell there =)

Next stop - Simpang Pulai rest station - notice it's petronas and I didn't fuel up there ;)

Halfway up to Cameron Highland, very cooling weather 24 degree ;)

Another stop near Cameron Highland enjoying some strawberry strudel and strawberry juice =))))

Five flip helmets resting together

Took another rest at a small stall halfway to Gua Musang - at this time should be around 12.30pm. Temperature around 35 degree.

Petronas Gua Musang, 10 mins to motel. nope, I didn't fuel up there either

Finally, arrived motel 1.30pm

Took a short rest, lunch we went (2.30pm)

On the way to Taman Negara, stopped nearby asking for direction

Taman Negara Pahang - Note - Tmn Negara is quite big and scattered onto a few states hence a few entrance

Back to our twin sharing RM70/night motel around 5.30pm. Took some rest and had dinner around 6.30pm at motel due to heavy rain.

Thanks to the heavy rain whole night we managed to sleep early and rest well. Preparing for the next destination - the infamous East/West highway

Last group pic - 13 bikes

Bikes rolling out of to the main road. nice background

stopped by halfway for pictures toward Jeli

Petrol stop after some twisties at Jeli - last stop before leaving Kelantan

Took some nice pictures along E/W highway. Very scenic and very nice weather

One of my old biking buddies - Arie. Photo taken opposite of the rest stop while waiting for the last biker to show up

Rest stop middle of E/W highway

Last petrol stop at Banding before finishing E/W highway - approx 40km to go. Some of us went back to KL on that day itself and others proceeded further up north

From Banding to Grik 30-40km was the best part of the entire trip. Scenic view, nice curves and less traffic. Was enjoying too much on the bends hence didn't bother to stop by and take any photo. Last stop before we said goodbye to the KL group was at Grik. 8 of us then proceed to Pengkalan Hulu, enjoyed few more bends and did a last fuel up before entering Thai border. Took us 15 mins to cross the border. Time of arrival was 2.30pm. Check-in hotel straight away and went for lunch. Spent the afternoon snoring, walked around night market at the evening and had a nice seafood dinner. Took some pics on the way back. Notice the little creatures on the cables? They are swallow birds!

Night scene in Betong is heaven to most men. Cheap beer, good food, plenty of massage paler, poll dancer bar, karaoke with GROs and etc etc if you are into those stuffs =). I had a few beer and head to bed for 'food offering' tmrw morning.

I woke up 5.30am monday and went to local market to buy some food to offer some monks and received some prayers, it was my first time and i felt great doing it

Spotted some bird's nest on the way back to hotel around 7am. got some sleep and woke up again for some nice dimsum

Went to a temple near by after dimsum

Another famous place in Betong - hotspring

This is where you put in a bag full of eggs where you can buy nearby and cook for 7-10mins to become hard boiled egg, yes, that hot!

Went to another templer near by and was raining quite bad, photo taken from the corridor

Whole afternoon was raining and I spent it on HBO and resting in hotel =(. Had some good rest and went for facial and got meself shaved(ON THE FACE!) for only RM10 while waiting for the rest to come out for dinner, same place for dinner and went for some beer again at the same karaoke last nite. Monday is always quiet here and not happening. Back to hotel and did some packing for tmrw's return.

Woke up almost 11am and went for dimsum again, did some last minute shopping for junks and some checking on the bikes and hit the road after check out the hotel at noon. Immigration was clear, we didn't even have to wait.

We took our sweet time riding along the trunk road from Pengkalan Hulu to Grik and had a fuel stop there. The journey from Grik to Lenggong was wet, caught into heavy rain hence riding very slow and reached Lenggong around 3pm for late lunch.

Took a slow and easy ride to Kuala Kangsar and enter N/S expressway. Had some rest again in Tapah and went home straight from there. Got home around 7pm and dinner was about to serve =)

system crashed approximately 9pm.
